FWSC resolves migration issues for colleges of education staff
The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has successfully resolved concerns regarding the migration of staff from Colleges of Education to the University Grades Structure, following negotiations with the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG).
The resolution comes after industrial action by CETAG over the matter.
In a press release dated January 27, 2025, the FWSC announced that a Migration Committee was formed on August 29, 2024, to address the issue.
The committee, which included representatives from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education, and the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, has now finalized the migration process.
As part of the resolution, the FWSC also confirmed the payment of research allowance top-ups to staff at various Colleges of Education, with Akrokerri College of Education already receiving its funds.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to resolving any post-migration challenges and ensuring the smooth functioning of Colleges of Education.
It urged CETAG to call off its strike and allow academic activities to resume, emphasizing the importance of continued dialogue and collaboration in addressing labour concerns.
The FWSC assured stakeholders of its dedication to transparency and fairness in resolving grievances to support the advancement of education in Ghana.
