Victory Bible Church International launches 40th anniversary celebrations
Victory Bible Church International (VBCI), one of Ghana’s leading charismatic churches, has unveiled a year-long programme of activities to mark its 40th anniversary.
The official launch took place on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the church’s headquarters, Dominion Sanctuary, in Accra.
Established on June 2, 1985, at Kokomlemle, Accra, under the leadership of its founder and Presiding Bishop, Right Reverend Nii Nabi Nii Apiakai Tackie-Yarboi, VBCI has grown exponentially over the past four decades. The church now has over 175 branches in Ghana and has expanded into six countries across four continents—Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe.
The ministry continues to flourish with 30 consecrated bishops overseeing 39 global provinces, boasting 250 local branches, known as sanctuaries.
VBCI's mission, “Raising the Foundations of Many Generations,” is inspired by Isaiah 58:12, which calls for rebuilding and restoring communities.
Over the years, the church has sought to fulfil this vision through spiritual and social impact, touching countless lives worldwide.
Hundreds of church members gathered to celebrate the milestone, offering praise and worship in gratitude for four decades of divine guidance and societal impact.
Senior Bishops Emmanuel Ackun and Cornelius Adjah-Cofie shared reflections on the church’s journey, highlighting both triumphs and challenges alongside Bishop Tackie-Yarboi.
During the event, the church unveiled its 40th-anniversary logo and commemorative t-shirts.
Bishop Tackie-Yarboi recounted VBCI’s humble beginnings, its growth, and the vision for the future.
He acknowledged the challenges along the way but emphasized that God’s unseen hand had been a constant source of strength, leading the church to greater heights.
Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Bishop Tackie-Yarboi emphasized VBCI’s commitment to both the spiritual and physical well-being of its members.
“The church is both an organization and an organism,” he explained. “While the organism focuses on spiritual matters, the organization ensures that the material and physical needs of members are met.
Many churches struggle because they neglect this balance.”
He further stressed the importance of equipping members with practical life skills alongside spiritual teachings. “If you only teach people about heaven without preparing them to survive on earth, life becomes difficult for them,” he added.
The anniversary celebrations will feature a series of events aimed at deepening the church’s impact and outreach. These include:
International Conference: A gathering featuring renowned global speakers. Outdoor Crusades & Street Evangelism: Spreading the gospel beyond church walls. Gospel Concert: Showcasing artists from VBCI and other ministries. Community Outreach & Charity Projects: Initiatives such as classroom blocks, boreholes, and clinic renovations in selected communities. Youth-Centric Programmes: Providing young people with leadership training, mentorship, and a platform to address challenges. Health Walk & Medical Screenings: Encouraging physical well-being among members. The celebrations will culminate in October 2025 with a week-long international gathering known as the "Wonderful Jesus Conference," bringing together congregants and faith leaders from around the world.
