WAEC releases 2025 private BECE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that the results of the 2025 private Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) have been released.
Confirming the development, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, John Kapi, said candidates can expect to access their results by the close of the day Friday, September 5, 2025.
The 2025 BECE for both school and private candidates was conducted from June 11 to June 18, 2025.
In total, 603,328 school candidates from 20,395 schools sat for the examination, comprising 297,250 males and 306,078 females.
For the private examination, 1,661 candidates registered, including 858 males and 803 females.
The provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, 2025.
WAEC noted that candidates found to have breached examination regulations were sanctioned following investigations and recommendations from the Council’s disciplinary committee.
According to WAEC, this year’s entries saw a 5.99% increase in school candidates and a 19.49% rise in private candidates compared to last year.
The examining body has assured that the private BECE results will be made available before the end of the day, with candidates expected to access them through the usual online portal.
