Collins Adomako Mensah calls for urgent probe into missing 1,300 ECG containers

Former Deputy Minister for Energy, Collins Adomako Mensah, has called for an immediate investigation into the disappearance of over 1,300 containers belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) from the Tema Harbour.
Mr Mensah expressed his shock at the situation, agreeing with his colleague, John Jinapor, that such incidents are rare and highly concerning.
As the Minority Deputy Ranking on the Energy Committee, Mensah assured that, “the Minority would fully cooperate to ensure accountability and bring the responsible parties to justice.”
He stressed the need for a thorough investigation, emphasizing the structured approval processes at ECG that make this loss particularly troubling.
The investigation, he said,”is crucial to restore order and transparency within the company’s operations.”
An investigative report on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has uncovered that more than 1,300 containers, which were meant to be cleared at the Tema Port, are unaccounted for.
According to Prof. Innocent Senyo Acquah, chairman of the investigative committee, ECG initially claimed to have 2,491 uncleared containers filled with cables and other essential equipment.
However, an independent audit at the port found only 1,134 containers, leaving 1,347 missing.
He spoke on the Good Morning Ghana show on Accra-based Metro TV.
