The Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, held a high-level security meeting with Interior Minister, Muntaka Mubarak, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Majority Leader,  Mahama Ayariga, and other Members of Parliament at the Ministry of Defence.

The discussions focused on the ongoing security situation in Bawku, a town that has been plagued by conflict in recent years.

Dr. Omane Boamah reiterated President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to following a comprehensive roadmap aimed at resolving the dispute through traditional mechanisms and dialogue.

"As President Mahama has assured the people, we will continue to follow the comprehensive roadmap to resolve this conflict through traditional means," he stated.

The Defence Minister emphasized the government’s determination to restore peace and stability to Bawku and other affected communities, assuring residents that security agencies are working diligently to address the crisis.

"We must restore peace and stability to Bawku and other communities, and I am determined to support that cause," he added.

The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts by the Mahama administration to enhance national security and address long-standing conflicts in the country.
