Jinapor promises overhaul of energy sector to recover missing ECG containers

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has pledged to recover 1,346 missing containers as part of his commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability within the sector.
The Minister's determination follows alarming revelations that some individuals have been purchasing containers filled with brand-new aluminum cables, melting them down, and exporting the resulting rods.
This malpractice has raised concerns about the loss of valuable resources and potential revenue.
Minister Jinapor has vowed to take decisive action by pushing for reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and sustainability within the energy sector.
His strategy includes tracking down the missing containers, prosecuting those responsible for the illegal activities, and selling the recovered rods to offset the losses incurred.
"The Ministry will not relent in its efforts to ensure that those who exploit the system are brought to justice," Minister Jinapor asserted while speaking on the floor of Parliament, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding public resources.
The Minister’s commitment has been widely praised for prioritizing good governance and demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing the challenges facing the energy sector.
