Effutu: Afenyo-Markin blames NDC for surge in cholera cases

The Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has blamed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Effutu for the recent cholera outbreak in Winneba, accusing them of locking up public toilets for three days due to what he described as the "my government has come syndrome."
Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting, Mr Afenyo-Markin stated that the closure of public toilets forced residents to defecate in open spaces, particularly along the shores of Winneba, which contributed to the surge in cholera cases.
“This reckless act has led to a health crisis that is affecting both NPP and NDC supporters.
The blame for this unfortunate situation must be placed squarely on the NDC in Effutu,” he said.
He, however, urged residents not to politicize the outbreak but rather work together to combat the disease by adhering to preventive measures outlined by health authorities.
Mr Afenyo-Markin emphasized that political transitions should not be used as a means to suppress people, urging all stakeholders to follow due legal processes in addressing grievances to maintain peace and stability in the Constituency.
