Dec. 7 Polls: Bawumia well-prepared to be Ghana’s next President
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed his full confidence in Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, endorsing him as the most prepared candidate to lead Ghana as its next president.
Speaking at a meeting with members of Organised Labour on Tuesday, 3 December 2024, President Akufo-Addo highlighted Dr Bawumia’s extensive experience and leadership credentials, which he said make him the ideal choice for the presidency.
“I have no doubt in my mind that my vice president, who was with me for eight years in opposition and who was a Deputy Governor at the Bank of Ghana when I came across him and asked him to follow me into politics, is well prepared today to be president,” Akufo-Addo remarked.
The president commended Dr Bawumia’s performance over the past eight years as Vice President, stating that his tenure had equipped him with the knowledge and skills necessary to continue Ghana’s development agenda.
Akufo-Addo also urged Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming general election on Saturday, 7 December 2024.
“And my appeal to you is that on Saturday when you go to cast your ballot, look closely at the elephant,” he added, referencing the NPP’s party symbol.
