Ofosu Ampofo questions lack of asphalted roads in Bawumia’s backyard

Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has cast doubt on the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) claim of constructing over 12,000 kilometres of roads across Ghana, citing the poor road conditions he observed in the North East Region.
Speaking to NDC supporters in Bunkrugu on Wednesday during the regional campaign tour of the NDC’s Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Dr. Ofosu Ampofo expressed disappointment in Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for what he sees as a lack of development in his home region.
“I came here to see for myself what Dr. Bawumia, Vice President of Ghana for the past eight years, has achieved in the North East Region,” he said.
“The NPP claims to have constructed 12,000 kilometres of roads, and I wanted to see how much of that was allocated to the Vice President’s home region, especially as he aims to be the next President of Ghana.
I have come, I have seen, and I can say that the Vice President has neglected his people in terms of road infrastructure.”
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo compared the North East Region to the Eastern Region, President Akufo-Addo’s home area, where he noted many roads are in good condition, including the asphalted roads in Kyebi, Akufo-Addo’s hometown.
He emphasized that in eight years, Dr. Bawumia has failed to provide asphalt roads in his own region and urged residents to vote against the NPP in the upcoming December 7 elections.
Dr. Ofosu Ampofo also praised NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama, whom he described as having a stronger track record on infrastructure development, and encouraged the people of the North East Region to support Mahama for improved development in their communities.
