Things have been tough under NPP gov’t, it’s time for change – Mahama tells Kyebi residents
John Dramani Mahama, the 2024 flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has sh criticised the eight-year reign of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), blaming the current government for Ghana’s economic challenges and widespread hardships.
Mr. Mahama accused the NPP of mismanaging the nation’s resources, resulting in significant setbacks for the country.
Addressing supporters at a mini-rally in Kyebi, within the Abuakwa South Constituency of the Eastern Region, Mr. Mahama emphasised that the nation’s economic struggles are a direct consequence of the government’s poor leadership.
He argued that Ghanaians are bearing the brunt of ineffective governance, with rising costs and declining living standards serving as evidence of the NPP’s failure to address critical national issues.
“The NPP government’s performance over the past eight years has been one of retrogression. Life was easier under the NDC government compared to today,” Mr. Mahama remarked.
He continued that: “Ghanaians have seen the consequences of misplaced priorities and poor leadership. It’s time for a change that truly prioritises the people.”
The former president contrasted the economic challenges faced under the current administration with the relative ease of life during his time in office.
“Money that could buy a meal during the NDC administration cannot get you the same meal now. Things have been tough under the NPP government,” he stated.
As part of his five-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, the NDC flagbearer called on the people of Kyebi to reject the promises of the NPP and instead support a change of government.
He stressed that only a change in leadership could restore the country’s economic stability and bring much-needed prosperity to the people of Ghana.
“It’s time for a change. The current government has failed, and only a change will restore the hope and prosperity that Ghanaians deserve,” Mr. Mahama added.
