The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has strongly condemned what it described as unacceptable behaviour by some players and officials during the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025 final between hosts Morocco and Senegal.

In a statement issued after the match, CAF expressed deep concern over incidents that occurred during and after the final, stressing that the actions were contrary to the values of fair play, respect, and sportsmanship that underpin African football.

CAF noted that the AFCON final is a showcase of the continent’s football excellence and must reflect the highest standards of discipline and professionalism, both on and off the pitch.

The governing body warned that misconduct at such a high-profile event undermines the integrity of the competition and damages the image of African football globally.

The football body disclosed that it has opened investigations into the incidents, adding that appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in line with CAF regulations once the process is concluded.

CAF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline across all its competitions and urged players, team officials, and supporters to uphold the spirit of the game at all times.

“The behaviour witnessed does not reflect the values of African football,” the statement said, emphasising that CAF will continue to act firmly against any form of misconduct to protect the credibility of its tournaments.
