President John Dramani Mahama has tasked Mr Kofi Adams with the significant responsibility of revitalizing Ghana's sports sector.
During the swearing-in ceremony at the Jubilee House on February 7, 2025, President Mahama emphasized the urgent need for transformation within the nation's sports landscape.
He highlighted the current challenges, describing the state of Ghanaian sports as "completely unacceptable for a country with our pedigree."
The President urged Minister Adams to prioritize transparency, professionalism, and modernization in sports management.
He specifically pointed to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as a starting point for reforms, aiming to restore the Black Stars to their former glory. "I expect that you concentrate on building up all the sports disciplines, and I know the Ghana Football Association would be a good place to start to make sure that we return the Black Stars to their glory days," President Mahama stated.
In response, Minister Adams acknowledged the challenges ahead and expressed his commitment to rejuvenating the sports sector.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration with key stakeholders, including the GFA, to implement effective reforms.
Adams also highlighted the need to address issues such as inadequate infrastructure, funding constraints, and governance inefficiencies that have hindered the development of various sports disciplines in the country.
