President John Mahama has described Ghana as a “trusted, open and reliable” partner for investment, as he urged Singaporean businesses to seize the vast opportunities the country and the wider African market present.

Delivering the assurance at the Ghana-Singapore Business Dialogue, jointly organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) and the Singapore Business Federation, the President encouraged Singaporean firms to form practical partnerships with Ghana.

He said their participation would be instrumental in driving Africa’s next phase of growth under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Highlighting Ghana’s unique position as host of the AfCFTA Secretariat, President Mahama noted that the country was developing strong logistics and digital infrastructure to serve as a springboard for trade across Africa.

Singapore’s Minister of State for National Development, Mr Alvin Tan, supported this call, urging investors to “look at Ghana with fresh eyes” and consider it as a gateway into the African market.

Adding weight to the President’s message, the Chief Executive Officer of GIPC, Mr Simon Madjie, outlined government incentives and major projects such as the petroleum hub and a $3.4 billion renewable energy programme, describing them as clear, bankable opportunities for investors.

The Chairman of the Singapore Business Federation, Mr SS Teo, praised Ghana’s bold measures towards economic stability, saying they offered strong and positive signals to the business community.

To further cement relations, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, announced that Ghana would open its first embassy in Singapore next year to boost bilateral cooperation and support a new era of business growth between the two countries
