Insurance industry stakeholders from across Ghana and beyond have converged at the Rock City Hotel for the 11th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the Insurance Brokers Association of Ghana (IBAG).

The event brought together key players in the insurance and financial sectors, including the Minister for Finance, Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Acting Commissioner of Insurance Abiba Zakariah, and Nigerian insurance expert Mazi Chloke Nwafor, who delivered the keynote address.

Also in attendance were representatives from major industry bodies such as the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIG), Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters of Ghana (CILAG), Women in Insurance Ghana (WING), and the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA), alongside executives from insurance, broking, and reinsurance firms.

Opening the conference, the President of IBAG, Stephen Kwarten Yeboah, described the gathering as a celebration of the Association’s growth, resilience, and unity over the years.

He noted that since its inception, the conference has been hosted in several cities across the country, strengthening collaboration within the industry.

He commended the National Insurance Commission for its continued support, as well as sponsors including SIC Insurance PLC and WAICA Reinsurance PLC for their role as headline partners.

This year’s conference is being held under the theme, “Building Resilience in a Socio-Political Environment,” reflecting growing concerns about economic uncertainty, regulatory changes, and ethical challenges within the industry.

Speakers highlighted the need for insurance professionals to adapt to evolving social and political dynamics, including issues such as corruption, regulatory pressures, and economic volatility.

Participants also pointed to Ghana’s relative political stability since 1992 as a positive factor, while acknowledging ongoing economic fluctuations and external risks such as global oil price movements.

Industry players are expected to explore strategies to strengthen resilience, improve ethical standards, and enhance the sector’s capacity to withstand shocks, while ensuring sustainable growth.

The conference will feature a series of discussions, presentations, and stakeholder engagements aimed at addressing key challenges and shaping the future of Ghana’s insurance industry.
