NPA educate consumers on LPG safety during Hogbetsotso festival
The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has intensified its public education drive on the safe and efficient use of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) with an engagement session held during the 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival in the Volta Region.
The outreach formed part of the Authority’s ongoing campaign to promote safety awareness and best practices among LPG consumers across Ghana.
Officials from the NPA interacted with festivalgoers, demonstrating proper LPG handling techniques and sharing key safety tips for both household and commercial users.
According to the NPA, the initiative seeks to reduce accidents related to gas use and empower consumers with the knowledge needed to handle LPG safely and responsibly.
The Authority also used the occasion to educate participants on the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) — a new policy framework designed to enhance consumer safety, environmental sustainability, and operational efficiency in the distribution of LPG.
Under the CRM, consumers will exchange empty cylinders for filled, safety-inspected ones at authorised exchange points, rather than refilling their own cylinders.
This approach, the NPA explained, will help minimise risks, improve quality control, and ensure that all LPG cylinders in circulation meet approved safety standards.
The engagement drew strong interest from residents, traders, and visitors at the festival, with many commending the NPA’s commitment to public safety and environmental protection.
The Authority reaffirmed its dedication to continuous public sensitisation and collaboration with stakeholders to ensure safe, accessible, and sustainable LPG use across the country.
