The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) will launch the pilot phase of the 24-Hour Economy programme in the downstream petroleum sector, marking what officials describe as a significant milestone in efforts to transform the country’s economy and improve productivity.

The initiative forms part of broader plans to operationalise the 24-Hour Economy policy aimed at promoting continuous economic activity, creating jobs, and enhancing efficiency across key sectors of the economy.

The pilot phase in the downstream petroleum sector is expected to improve service delivery, increase operational hours, and strengthen economic activities within the fuel distribution and petroleum value chain.

The NPA say the programme will also support employment generation while boosting productivity and economic growth through round-the-clock operations.

The launch of the pilot phase today at the Mose Asaga Auditorium represents one of the first major steps toward the implementation of the government’s wider 24-Hour Economy agenda, which seeks to encourage businesses and industries to operate beyond traditional working hours.

Stakeholders in the petroleum sector are expected to collaborate closely with the NP to ensure the successful implementation of the programme and its long-term sustainability.
