Policy analyst and founder of UP Tradition Institute,   Dr. Razak Kojo Opoku has commended businessman Ibrahim Mahama and his company, Engineers & Planners (E&P), for their involvement in the Azumah Resources deal, describing it as a major step toward strengthening indigenous participation in Ghana’s economy.

In a statement, Dr. Opoku said the transaction represents the kind of home-grown economic empowerment that Ghana needs to achieve long-term growth and resilience.

He emphasised that for Ghana to become a powerful and self-sustaining nation, control of its natural and economic resources must increasingly rest in the hands of local entrepreneurs and business leaders.

“Our country’s economy should be controlled by indigenous businesspersons and entrepreneurs.

Kudos to Ibrahim Mahama and the Engineers & Planners.

This is how powerful nations are built,” Dr. Opoku stated.

He further noted that supporting capable Ghanaian businesses to lead major ventures in mining, energy, and infrastructure aligns with the broader goal of economic independence and sustainable development.

Dr. Opoku reiterated that empowering local firms not only retains wealth within the country but also enhances job creation, innovation, and national pride, adding that Ghana’s future prosperity depends on strategic policies that promote indigenous ownership and participation across all sectors.
