Toyota introduces its first hybrid model in Ghana
Toyota Tsusho Manufacturing Ghana Company Limited (TTMG) has formally launched its fully integrated Toyota Ghana operations, announcing expanded after-sales services, improved parts availability, enhanced digital platforms and the introduction of the country’s first hybrid electric vehicle model.
The launch ceremony was attended by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah; the Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Hiroshi Yoshimoto; the French Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Diarra Dimé Labille; the Chief Operating Officer for Africa at Toyota Tsusho Corporation, Mr. Shinichiro Otsuka; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Mr. Simon Madjie; and the Managing Director of TTMG, Mr. Takeshi Watanabe.
Their presence underscored strong confidence in Ghana’s investment climate.
Established in 2020 as a subsidiary of CFAO, TTMG operates from a production facility in the Tema Free Zone.
Following an agreement with Toyota Ghana Limited (TGL), TTMG consolidated operations by acquiring the distributor’s assets, becoming the sole entity responsible for Toyota manufacturing and nationwide distribution in Ghana.
The integrated operation now comprises nine branches and approximately 640 employees.
TTMG also announced plans to introduce several new Toyota models in 2026, including the country’s first hybrid electric system, marking a significant step toward electrified mobility in Ghana.
The development reflects the impact of government policies aimed at positioning Ghana as a preferred destination for high-quality investments.
Toyota’s expanding footprint in Ghana demonstrates the potential that can be unlocked when investor ambition aligns with a supportive policy and facilitation framework.
As the partnership deepens, Ghana remains open and committed to advancing sustainable industrial growth.
