The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) is set to host a cooking competition as part of its ongoing “Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana” Week Celebration, aimed at promoting local cuisine and cultural identity.

The event, scheduled for Thursday, March 19, 2026, will take place at the forecourt of the Assembly in Accra. It forms Day 4 of the week-long celebration, which highlights Ghanaian food, fashion, and creativity.

Organisers say the cooking competition is designed to encourage residents, especially the youth, to embrace indigenous dishes while showcasing their culinary talents.

Participants have also been encouraged to wear Ghana jerseys as a symbol of patriotism and national pride during the contest.

The initiative is part of a broader campaign by the Assembly to deepen appreciation for locally made products and strengthen the cultural economy. Through activities like this, the Assembly hopes to boost interest in Ghanaian cuisine while supporting local food vendors and producers.

The “Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana” campaign continues to gain traction as a platform for celebrating national identity, with various activities lined up throughout the week under the theme of promoting local consumption and cultural heritage.

The event is expected to attract food enthusiasts, young chefs, and members of the public eager to experience and celebrate Ghana’s rich culinary diversity.
