"Beef Is part of the Game" – Sarkodie says another clash with Shatta Wale could happen
Ghanaian rap heavyweight Sarkodie has revealed that while he currently shares a healthy relationship with dancehall star Shatta Wale, he would not be shocked if the two musicians found themselves in another public disagreement in the future.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Adesope, Sarkodie described their current relationship as one of mutual respect and understanding but stressed that rivalry remains an unavoidable aspect of the entertainment business.
According to the award-winning rapper, occasional conflicts between artists should not always be interpreted as personal hatred, as competition often fuels creativity within the industry.
“Personally, I think we are in a beautiful place right now, and we should appreciate it. As for beef, I wouldn’t completely rule it out. In this industry, it is sometimes necessary,” he said.
Sarkodie disclosed that he recently had a private conversation with Shatta Wale about the unpredictable nature of their relationship. He explained that despite being on good terms, disagreements could emerge at any time because both artists are outspoken and unafraid to express their views.
“I told Shatta Wale yesterday that we are cool now, but I’m pretty sure that in the next two or three months something could happen. It’s not going to stop. If I have something to say to you, I’ll say it, and if you have something to say to me, you’ll say it,” Sarkodie stated.
The rapper also revisited one of the most talked-about feuds in Ghanaian music history, reflecting on the events that led to the release of his 2018 diss track, Advice.
Sarkodie explained that the song was born out of frustration following a period in which Shatta Wale frequently criticised several figures in the entertainment industry, including himself. He recalled that while plans were underway to shoot the video for their collaboration, Megye Wo Girl, Shatta Wale appeared more focused on controversies and disputes that Sarkodie considered unnecessary.
That frustration eventually inspired the release of Advice, a song that sparked intense conversations among fans and industry observers and remains one of the most memorable diss tracks in Ghanaian music.
Despite their turbulent past, the two stars have made visible efforts over the years to mend their relationship. They have publicly praised each other, interacted positively on social media, and demonstrated a renewed level of respect.
His comments add another chapter to the long-running story between the two artists, a relationship that has produced hit collaborations, public disagreements, and some of the most talked-about moments in Ghana's music industry.
