The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Mrs. Maame Efua Houadjeto, has held the first Tourism Stakeholders’ Engagement for 2026, outlining a renewed strategy to reset Ghana’s tourism sector under the Black Star Experience initiative.

The engagement, themed “Resetting Ghana’s Tourism Under the Black Star Experience: The Role of Private Sector Practitioners,” brought together key players from the tourism value chain, including hospitality operators, tour guides, travel agencies, creative industry practitioners, and investors.

Speaking at the meeting, Mrs. Houadjeto emphasised the critical role of the private sector in repositioning Ghana as a competitive tourism destination, stressing that collaboration between government and industry players would be central to the success of the Black Star Experience.

She assured stakeholders of the Authority’s commitment to deeper collaboration, enhanced training programmes, and sustained capacity-building initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and strengthening professionalism across the sector.

“Training is no longer optional. To protect Ghana’s tourism brand and remain competitive, we must continuously upgrade skills, improve service delivery, and professionalise every layer of the sector,” she stated.

According to the GTA CEO, the reset agenda seeks to align tourism offerings with global standards while showcasing Ghana’s unique cultural heritage, history, and creative assets in a more coordinated and impactful manner.

Stakeholders welcomed the engagement and pledged their support for the Black Star Experience, describing it as a timely intervention that would boost tourism growth, create jobs, and enhance Ghana’s global appeal.

The Tourism Stakeholders’ Engagement is expected to become a regular platform for dialogue, feedback, and collaboration as Ghana works to strengthen its tourism industry as a key driver of economic growth and national development.
