Stonebwoy backs Sarkodie’s plan to fill The O2 Arena in 2027
Afro-Dancehall originator Stonebwoy has thrown his support behind rap legend Sarkodie following the rapper’s bold announcement that he intends to stage the Rapperholic concert at the 20,000-capacity The O2 Arena in 2027.
Sarkodie made the announcement at the close of his Rapperholic show at the Royal Albert Hall on March 6, 2026, which coincided with Ghana Independence Day.
Explaining the decision, the rapper said he and his team were encouraged by the speed at which tickets sold for the Royal Albert Hall concert, a venue with a capacity of about 5,000.
The concert itself was a major moment for Ghanaian music in the diaspora, with Sarkodie sharing the stage with fellow Ghanaian stars KiDi, Efya, Lasmid, and Kweku Flick.
Ten years earlier, Sarkodie had taken the Rapperholic show to Indigo at The O2, making the Royal Albert Hall concert another milestone in the evolution of the event.
Reacting to the O2 Arena ambition, Stonebwoy expressed his support through his Instagram stories.
Over a background image of Sarkodie announcing the plan, the reggae and dancehall artiste wrote, “A Ghanaian artist cannot? Here we go,” accompanied by a rocket emoji, while also encouraging fans to “sign up.”

The comment comes in the context of earlier skepticism about whether a Ghanaian artist could fill the venue. London-based Ghanaian event promoter Alordia had previously suggested that even 20 Ghanaian artistes combined could not fill the O2 Arena and later stated that no single Ghanaian artist could achieve the feat.
The Royal Albert Hall itself is one of the world’s most prestigious music venues and has hosted global acts including The Beatles, Adele, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Led Zeppelin, and ABBA.
Stonebwoy could potentially be among the performers at the anticipated 2027 event, as he and Sarkodie share several collaborations, including the songs Strength of a Woman and Baafira.
