Ghana named guest country for Burkina Faso’s 22nd National Culture Week
Ghana has officially accepted an invitation to participate as Guest Country at the 22nd National Culture Week in Bobo-Dioulasso, scheduled to take place from April 22 to May 2, 2026, marking a significant step in cultural diplomacy between Ghana and Burkina Faso.
The invitation was extended by Burkina Faso’s Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, Gilbert Noël Ouédraogo, alongside the Burkinabe Ambassador to Ghana, David Kabré, during a courtesy call on Ghana’s Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (MoTCCA), Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
Receiving the delegation, Gomashie reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening cultural cooperation and historic ties with its northern neighbour.
She emphasised that Ghana’s participation in the festival would provide expanded opportunities for young creatives, boost cross-border artistic exchange, and open new commercial platforms within the creative economy.

The National Culture Week is one of Burkina Faso’s flagship cultural events, drawing artists, performers, entrepreneurs and tourists from across West Africa.
This year’s edition will feature cultural performances, a community village and gastronomy fair, an arts market, literary activities, and a craft and trade exhibition showcasing indigenous products and talents.
Ghana’s role as Guest Country will allow it to spotlight its rich cultural heritage, music, film, crafts and cuisine, while strengthening people-to-people connections and business collaborations within the creative sector.
The engagement is also expected to reinforce broader diplomatic relations between President John Dramani Mahamaand Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traoré, as both countries seek deeper cooperation across cultural and economic fronts.
With preparations underway, Ghanaian creatives and cultural stakeholders are anticipated to mount a strong presence at the festival, showcasing the country’s diverse artistic landscape on a regional stage.
