IShowSpeed declares Nigeria winner after tasting Ghana jollof
Global internet sensation IShowSpeed has weighed in on the age-old Ghana vs Nigeria jollof debate, and the verdict is in: Nigeria takes the crown, at least in his taste test.
During his recent visit to Ghana, the streamer sampled the country’s famed jollof rice after previously tasting the Nigerian version. The moment, full of anticipation, was captured live for his millions of fans, sparking laughter and playful banter across social media.
IShowSpeed’s Ghana tour was more than just culinary adventures. He took part in a vibrant traditional ceremony, complete with prayers, drumming, music, and the conferral of a traditional Ghanaian name, Barima Kofi Akuffo.
The presiding chief explained the significance of the name: elders had checked his birthdate and discovered he was Friday-born, earning the Akan day name Kofi. Barima signifies a valiant and extraordinary man, while Akuffo is a prominent Akan family name, making it a prestigious honour for the US digital star.
Despite the warm hospitality, cultural immersion, and royal treatment, the streamer could not resist revealing his preference: Ghana’s jollof may be delicious, but Nigeria still wins in his book. He had a bowl of jollof provided by ChickenMan at the Independence (Black Star) Square, Accra.
Fans quickly flooded social media with reactions, joking, debating, and celebrating the playful moment, proving once again that the Jollof rivalry remains one of the internet’s most entertaining culinary battles.
