Alhaji Seidu Agongo collaborates with NEIP to share 10,000 free sewing machines nationwide
Businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Seidu Agongo, in collaboration with the National Entrepreneurship & Innovation Programme (NEIP), is undertaking a nationwide sewing machine distribution project to help the youth and bridge the unemployment gap in Ghana.
The project, aimed at cushioning the needy, poor and less vulnerable society, particularly women and persons looking to start a small-scale tailoring or fashion business, will ensure the distribution of 10,000 sewing machines nationwide.
This kind gesture is primarily to support vocational training graduates and strengthen the local fashion and garment value chain to reduce unemployment.
The goal of this project, according to the benefactors, is to "give people capital equipment directly so they can start income-generating businesses without waiting for loans. Tailoring is one of the biggest SME sectors for youth and women in Ghana".
In order to qualify as a beneficiary, interested persons are to visit Alhaji Seidu Agongo's official social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and X) and download an application form, fill the form and post it back to the same social media platforms they used and wait to be contacted by the distribution team.
The distribution of the sewing machines is free.
NEIP’s Role
According to the NEIP under the leadership of its CEO, Eric Adjei, the institution has been "pushing grassroots entrepreneurship programs like the Adwumawura programme which targets 10,000 youth-led businesses annually" with equipment distribution being a part of the mandate.
Their partnership with Alhaji Agongo dwells on the fact that he is a philanthropist and businessman who has been passionately funding equipment, scholarships and infrastructure and this sewing machine project fits his focus on practical skills and job creation.
