The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has officially launched its 2026 CSIR week campaign, setting the stage for two landmark national events—the CSIR National Scientific Conference and the CSIR Innovation Fair 2026.

Chairman of the CSIR Council, Ing. Mark A. Taylor, performed the launch at a ceremony in Accra by unveiling the official campaign materials, digital platforms and media roadmap for the October events.

"Ghanaian innovation must be told, amplified and shared across every corner of our nation. We are not just launching events today, we are unveiling a showcase of homegrown resilience," Ing. Taylor declared.

He said CSIR has served as the backbone of Ghana's scientific and technological advancement for decades but its true mandate goes beyond laboratories and academic papers.

"Our true measure of success is found in how our innovations improve everyday lives, feed our nation, power our industries, and preserve our environment," he said.

Two Themes, One Goal

Ing. Taylor announced two focal themes for this year namely “Harnessing Science, Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Ghana” and “From Research to Market: The Role of CSIR in Driving Innovation for National Development”.

"These themes are not mere slogans. They represent milestones," he stressed, adding that CSIR must completely break the long-standing gap between what is discovered in its institutes and how those discoveries are commercialised by the private sector.

To illustrate what he called "living proof of what Ghanaian minds can achieve," the council Chairman highlighted four recent breakthroughs.

He mentioned “CSIR scientists have developed high-yielding, climate-resilient crop varieties with enhanced nutritional values, bridging the gap from Ghanaian germplasm directly to farmers' fields.

“Market-oriented technologies and smart, localized processing and packaging systems that dramatically reduce post-harvest losses and secure national food security.

“The yet-to-be-established state-of-the-art CSIR Institute hybrid data center and AI lab, with regional and specialized digital nodes across all 13 research institutes, positioning Ghana at the forefront of data-driven research and artificial intelligence.

“The establishment and scale-up of production of standard certified pozzolana cement a cost-effective, eco-friendly local alternative that utilizes local materials to build the nation's infrastructure.”

"We need you, our friends in the media, along with all our corporate partners to champion this narrative of localized solutions," Ing. Taylor appealed.

With the authority vested in him as Chairman of the CSIR Council and in the presence of partners and media representatives, he said: "I officially launch the 2026 CSIR Week campaign, and unveil the official campaign material, digital platforms, and media roadmap. Let the countdown begin."

He invited all stakeholders  researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers and investors  to join CSIR in October as it makes ready to market technologies from the laboratory to the open market.

"Let us harness science, technology, and innovation to secure a prosperous and sustainable future for Ghana," he concluded.
