Cape Coast North MP distances office from proposed Ekon Junction Market site
The Office of the Member of Parliament for Cape Coast North Constituency has stated that it was not consulted on the selection of Ekon Junction as the proposed site for a 24-hour economy market in the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly.
In a disclaimer issued to residents, the office said recent presentations by the Metropolitan Chief Executive, George Justice Arthur, suggesting otherwise are inaccurate and do not reflect its position.
The statement clarified that the MP, Kwamena Minta Nyarku, supports initiatives aimed at promoting economic growth but does not back the proposed Ekon Junction location in its current form.
According to the office, the project requires careful planning and siting to ensure accessibility, long-term sustainability, and maximum benefit to residents.
It added that the MP is engaging relevant stakeholders to secure a more suitable and broadly accepted location for the project.
Residents were also urged to remain calm and law-abiding as discussions continue.
The statement was signed by Ebenezer Kojo Domey, Coordinator of the MP’s Office.
