Child dies, brother hospitalised after rain-induced building collapse at Awutu Papaase
A four-year-old boy, Godsway Nutsugah, has died, while his 35-year-old brother, Seth Nutsugah, is in critical condition following the collapse of a building at Awutu Papaase Number 1 in the Awutu Senya West District during a heavy rainstorm.
The incident happened on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when the two siblings were reportedly asleep inside an “Atakpame” structure that gave way amid the downpour.
After the collapse, rescue efforts were mounted, but the younger child was pronounced dead after being retrieved from the debris. His elder brother was later taken to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for urgent medical care.
The Awutu Senya West District NADMO Director, Salifu Adams, confirmed the incident in an interview with Adom News and advised residents to take precautions as the rainy season begins.
Authorities are expected to carry out an assessment of structures in the affected area.
