Commonwealth Secretary-General joins tribute to war veterans in London
The Commonwealth Secretary-General, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, has joined diplomats, veterans and dignitaries in London to honour servicemen and women who served during the two World Wars.
The ceremony was held at the Memorial Gates, where high commissioners and representatives from across the Commonwealth gathered to pay tribute to the sacrifices of soldiers who fought in World War I and World War II.
The event commemorated the bravery and dedication of the men and women who served during the wars and recognised their contributions to shaping the modern world.
This year’s observance placed special emphasis on the role of women in the war effort, acknowledging their courage, resilience and sacrifices during the conflicts.
Participants at the ceremony laid wreaths and reflected on the legacy of those who served, reaffirming the Commonwealth’s commitment to preserving the memory of their contributions to global peace and freedom.
