Fire breaks out at Accra Central Police Barracks; no casualties reported, suspect in custody

A fire outbreak has been reported at the Accra Central Police Barracks, prompting an emergency response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).

Firefighters were deployed to the scene and are working to bring the situation under control.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno accompanied by members of the Police Management Board and the Accra Regional Police Commander, visited the location to assess the situation and coordinate support for affected personnel.

Police said no casualties have been recorded.

Authorities have not yet established the cause of the fire, and investigations are underway.

In a statement, the police administration expressed appreciation to personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and police officers assisting with efforts to contain the incident.

The police also disclosed that a suspect is in custody and is assisting with investigations into the outbreak.
