The Minority in Parliament has urged the Mahama administration to prioritise job creation and economic recovery, arguing that Ghanaians expect practical solutions rather than continued political exchanges over past governance challenges.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, said the government has had sufficient time in office to transition from attributing the country’s difficulties to previous administrations and instead focus on addressing the pressing concerns of citizens.

According to Mr. Jinapor, the country's economic agenda should be centred on measures that promote growth, generate employment opportunities and help ease the increasing cost of living confronting many households.

The former Minister for Lands and Natural Resources identified youth unemployment as one of the most urgent issues facing the nation, warning that failure to tackle the challenge could have far-reaching social and economic consequences.

He stressed the importance of creating an enabling environment for businesses to expand, noting that the private sector remains the most viable avenue for sustainable employment generation.

Mr. Jinapor said the Minority's comments were in response to remarks made by the Finance Minister during a statement delivered in Parliament.

He maintained that while acknowledging past economic challenges may be necessary, the government's primary focus should now be on implementing policies that improve living standards and provide tangible relief to Ghanaians.
