Ghana Institution of Surveyors confer honorary membership on Joyce Aryee and Yaw Osei Adutwum

The Ghana Institution of Surveyors has conferred honorary membership on Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee and Hon. Yaw Osei Adutwum, recognising their outstanding contributions to national development and leadership.

The ceremony, chaired by PP Surv. Matilda Fiadzibey, highlighted the honorees' impact on land governance, valuation, geospatial development, and public policy.

The institution's governing council cited Rev. Dr. Aryee and Hon. Adutwum's exceptional leadership and achievements, noting that the conferment is a testament to their dedication to Ghana's development.

Hon. Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, former Minister for Education, expressed gratitude for being conferred honorary membership by the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, alongside Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee.

In his acceptance speech, Hon. Dr. Adutwum credited his land economy background for informing his approach to education and national development, emphasizing the importance of community-driven governance and autonomous cities.

He highlighted the correlation between quality schools and property values, advocating for community-led schools and local governance to drive transformation in Ghana.

Hon. Dr. Adutwum envisioned a future where Ghanaians will govern their own communities, leveraging property taxes to improve living standards and national development. 

Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, honorary member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors, also emphasised the divine nature of the surveying profession, citing biblical references to land and boundaries.

She urged surveyors to recognize their crucial role in Ghana's development, particularly in managing land resources and promoting orderly land administration.

Rev. Dr. Aryee highlighted the importance of structures and institutions in ensuring effective land governance, citing challenges such as disputes and indiscipline.

She expressed confidence in the Ghana Institution of Surveyors' ability to drive positive change and champion better land management practices in Ghana. 

The event brought together distinguished guests, past presidents, and members of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors to celebrate the honorees' contributions.
