The Deputy Minister for Defence, Ernest Brogya Genfi, on behalf of the Acting Minister for Defence, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has received a high-level United States delegation as part of ongoing efforts to deepen defence cooperation between Ghana and the U.S.

The delegation, led by Admiral George Wikoff and accompanied by Rolf Olson, held discussions with Ghanaian officials at the Ministry of Defence in Accra.

Talks centred on strengthening the Ghana–United States defence partnership, with particular focus on enhancing maritime security within the Gulf of Guinea, a strategic area that continues to face evolving security threats.

Mr Brogya Genfi expressed Ghana’s appreciation to the United States for its sustained support to the country’s defence sector. He highlighted recent assistance, including technical support in the investigation of a helicopter crash and the provision of air transport for Ghanaian troops deployed to Jamaica under Operation Boafo.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between the two countries and underscored a shared commitment to promoting security, stability, and international cooperation.
