High Court adjourns Wontumi, EXIM Bank case to November 2
The Accra High Court has adjourned the case involving former Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, in the EXIM Bank case to November 2 and 3 after the court was informed that it had not received copies of the prosecution’s disclosure documents.
At the case management conference, Deputy Attorney-General Dr. Justice Srem-Sai told the court that the prosecution had filed and served the defence with its disclosures in two batches on October 23 and October 26.
However, the court indicated that it had not received copies of the documents.
Counsel for the accused, Samuel Atta Akyea told the court that he had collected his copy of the disclosures from the court registry earlier in the day.
He subsequently asked the court for sufficient time to review the documents, stressing that the liberty of his client was at stake and that he needed to carefully examine the materials before proceeding.
The court, presided over by Justice Francis Achibonga, adjourned the case to November 2 at 9 a.m. and November 3 at 10:30 a.m. to allow the court to receive the disclosures and give defence counsel reasonable time to peruse them.
