IGP, GFA President meet to strengthen sports security and integrity
The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), has met with the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Okraku Mantey, and his delegation at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.
The meeting, held on February 19, 2026, was aimed at deepening collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the GFA to enhance sports security and promote the development of football in the country.
Key issues discussed included maintaining high ethical standards in football matches, addressing concerns related to match manipulation, and tackling illegal betting activities.
Both institutions reaffirmed their shared commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions.
They agreed to strengthen cooperation through intelligence sharing, investigations, and the implementation of preventive measures to protect the credibility of the sport.
The engagement also explored plans for the development of a modern sporting facility for the Ghana Police Service as part of efforts to promote sports within the security service.
At the close of the meeting, both parties expressed readiness to work closely together to advance these initiatives and ensure a secure and transparent football environment in Ghana.
