Jema house fire: Jealous ex-boyfriend suspected
A suspected arson attack occurred in Jema, Bono East region, in the early hours of Sunday after a man allegedly set fire to a house following a dispute with his ex-girlfriend and her new partner.
The victims, who escaped the building unhurt, identified the new boyfriend as Kojo and reported that the suspect had previously threatened him.
The woman had traveled to Jema to resolve the tension, but while she and Kojo slept, the suspect reportedly poured petrol around the residence and ignited it before fleeing.
The occupants managed to escape after smelling the fuel, though the fire subsequently destroyed the property and its contents.
Speaking to Adom News, the victims attributed the attack to the suspect’s jealousy. While the suspect remains at large, police have yet to issue a formal statement as investigations are anticipated to begin.
