Kennedy Agyapong declines co-chair appointment from Dr Mahamudu Bawumia
Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has officially declined an appointment to serve as Co-Chair following an offer from Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a formal letter dated May 8, 2026, Mr Agyapong expressed gratitude for the offer but stated that he could not accept the position at this time.
He cited "personal and strategic reasons" that require his full attention and commitment elsewhere as the basis for his decision.
Despite declining the leadership role, the prominent legislator and businessman reaffirmed his dedication to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
"I remain committed to the progress and unity of our party and will continue to support every genuine effort aimed at strengthening our collective vision for Ghana," the letter stated.
The communication concluded with Mr Agyapong wishing Dr Bawumia success in his future endeavours.
The move comes as the party continues to organise its leadership structure ahead of upcoming political cycles.
