NPP accuses NDC of failed promises as row deepens over cocoa funds allegations

The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah, has stated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has failed Ghanaians, asserting that several of its flagship promises, including the proposed 24-hour economy policy, have stalled.

His comments follow a response by the governing NDC, which dismissed allegations that the government is diverting resources intended for cocoa farmers to procure four aircraft for the President.

The party described the claims as false, irresponsible, and part of a broader political misinformation campaign.

According to the NDC, the allegation was made by the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, during a tour of cocoa-growing communities, where he reportedly suggested that funds meant for farmers were being redirected to finance the acquisition of presidential jets.

Reacting at the relaunch of the party’s “Setting the Records Straight” platform in Accra, the Deputy National Communications Officer of the NDC, Ako Gunn, strongly rejected the claims, insisting they are baseless.

He further accused the NPP of resorting to a coordinated misinformation strategy following its inability to gain public trust on policy and governance matters.

Mr. Gunn argued that the narrative being circulated in cocoa-growing areas is intended to incite disaffection among farmers by linking legitimate government programmes to unverified allegations.

He maintained that the opposition’s communication approach reflects a pattern of “half-truths and calculated propaganda” aimed at distorting public perception of government policies.

These and other issues were addressed during the event. Let’s listen.

Meanwhile, speaking to Accra News, the NPP’s Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, reiterated that the NDC has underperformed, stressing that key promises, including the 24-hour economy policy, remain unfulfilled
