Six arrested in central region for allegedly posing as security officers
The Ghana Police Service has arrested six men accused of impersonating security personnel and assaulting foreign nationals at a manufacturing company in the Central Region.
According to a police statement issued on Thursday, May 7, the suspects were apprehended following an incident at about noon on May 6 at S. I Jun Manufacturing Company Limited, located at Agona Akwakwa near Mankrong Nkwanta.
Police said the suspects arrived at the premises in a Toyota Land Cruiser with registration number GW 8887-V while dressed in military and immigration uniforms.
Preliminary investigations indicate that three of the men were wearing camouflage uniforms associated with the Ghana Immigration Service, one was dressed in military attire, while two others were in civilian clothing.
The group allegedly identified themselves as National Security operatives and reportedly subjected several Chinese nationals at the company to harassment and physical assault.
A police team dispatched to the scene found the vehicle parked at the premises and discovered three Chinese workers — identified as Man Guan, Chin Min, and Ma Kaixiang — in handcuffs.
The suspects, identified as Agyemang Benjamin, Mahama Iddrisu Dawuda Seidu, Ofori Isaac, Adom Bills, Hayford Boafo, and Ato Mchenry, were subsequently arrested and taken into custody.
