Betty Krosbi Mensah urges women to prioritise health through exercise and preventive care
National Co-ordinator of the National Recreation and Wellness Programme (NaRWP), Betty Krosbi Mensah, has called on women to prioritise their health through regular exercise and preventive healthcare practices.
According to her, maintaining an active lifestyle is essential for overall wellbeing, strength, and disease prevention, particularly among women.
She also encouraged the public to take advantage of the government’s Free Primary Healthcare initiative by regularly checking their health status and seeking professional medical care when necessary.
Speaking at an event organised by the Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asokwa Constituency, Mrs. Mensah explained that access to the programme requires possession of a Ghanacard for treatment at CHPS compounds and government health facilities.
She further advised against self-medication, warning that it often leads to complications and delayed treatment.
Mrs. Mensah also commended President John Dramani Mahama for introducing the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, popularly known as Mahama Care, describing it as a major intervention to support patients battling expensive illnesses such as cancer and kidney disease.
The event, hosted by the constituency Women’s Organiser, Regina Awuni, celebrated the efforts of women within the party and recognised their contribution to the NDC’s victory in the 2024 general elections.
As part of the programme, Mrs. Awuni distributed items including clothing, hairdryers, spraying machines, and other equipment to women in the constituency to support their livelihoods and encourage continued dedication to the party.
She also facilitated the registration and renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards for members of the women’s wing to improve their access to healthcare services.
In addition, she announced financial support initiatives through the launch of ADE Credit Union, owned by the constituency Vice Chairman of the NDC, aimed at providing interest-free loans to empower women economically.
Municipal Chief Executive for Asokwa, Amoh Kamel, also addressed the gathering, outlining ongoing development projects within the municipality, particularly in the health sector.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes designed to improve the living conditions of citizens and expand access to social services.
