KMA impounds 11 cattle as Mayor warns against roaming livestock
The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has intensified its enforcement drive to maintain order within the city, leading to the arrest and impoundment of 11 cattle found roaming the streets of the metropolis.
In an interview with Kumasi FM’s Elisha Adarkwah, the Mayor of Kumasi, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, confirmed that the livestock were intercepted along major ceremonial routes within the city.
According to the Mayor, although the owners of the animals have come forward to claim them, the cattle will remain in the custody of the Assembly until all required financial penalties are settled.
He explained that the charges include fines for breaching Assembly bylaws, as well as the cost of feeding and maintaining the animals during the period of impoundment.
The Mayor stressed that the animals will only be released after the owners have fully paid the stipulated fines and related expenses.
He further cautioned that the Assembly remains on high alert and will continue to apprehend any livestock found wandering within the metropolis, as part of efforts to ensure safety, sanitation and order in Kumasi.
