Mahama calls for peace amid rising US–Israel–Iran tensions
President John Dramani Mahama has urged calm and prayers for peace as tensions escalate between the United States, Israel, and Iran, warning that the conflict has implications far beyond the Middle East.
The president made the appeal on Monday at Jubilee House while hosting the National Chief Imam and members of the Muslim community.
The engagement formed part of ongoing interactions between the Presidency and religious leaders aimed at strengthening national unity and social cohesion.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama noted that the conflict’s effects are being felt globally and called for prayers to help restore peace in the affected region.
“The conflict between the US and Israel and Iran is affecting not only the Middle East, it’s affecting the whole world. And so we pray that Allah would touch the hearts of everybody involved in this conflict and bring peace to the people in the area,” he said.
The president’s remarks come at a time of rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, developments that analysts say could carry significant consequences for global security, energy markets, and international trade.
He encouraged religious communities to continue praying for peace and unity, emphasising that stability in conflict-affected regions remains vital for the wellbeing of the global community.
