Mahama charges Presidential Economic Advisory Group to deliver frank, evidence-based guidance for Ghana’s recovery
President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly inaugurated Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE) to provide frank, independent and evidence-based advice to guide Ghana’s economic recovery.
Addressing members of the group after their inauguration at the Presidency, President Mahama stressed the importance of objective, data-driven policy guidance as the country works to stabilise and reset its economy.
He tasked PAGE to propose policy adjustments where necessary and to provide expert input into Ghana’s economic negotiations and engagements with bilateral and multilateral partners, international financial institutions and investors.
The President further directed that the advisory group report directly to him, submitting advisory memoranda, policy briefs and strategic reviews as required. He emphasised that their recommendations must always be anchored in the long-term national interest.
Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, speaking on behalf of the members, assured the President of the group’s commitment to the responsibility entrusted to them.
She expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the confidence reposed in the team and pledged that they would deliver independent and practical guidance in support of Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.
