Garu MP calls for improved working conditions for health professionals
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Garu, Thomas Winsum Anabah, has called on the government to take urgent steps to improve the working conditions of health professionals and ensure they receive fair and prompt compensation for their services.
Delivering a statement on the floor of Parliament of Ghana on Thursday, the lawmaker emphasised that the country’s healthcare system cannot thrive without motivated and well-supported medical personnel.
According to Mr. Anabah, although investments in hospital infrastructure and medical equipment are essential, the lack of sufficient skilled personnel continues to limit access to quality healthcare for many citizens.
He stressed that addressing the physician gap requires deliberate policies aimed at training more health workers, improving conditions of service, and creating incentives that will encourage professionals to remain and work within the country’s health sector.
The MP further called for strategic reforms and collaboration with global partners to help Ghana adopt best practices in strengthening its healthcare workforce and improving health outcomes nationwide.
