Volta Impact Alliance rallies behind Gabriel Tanko Atokple, calls for unity and due process
The Volta Impact Alliance, a coalition of regional leaders and advocacy groups, has publicly declared its unwavering support for Council of State member Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah Atokple amid ongoing public scrutiny.
At a press conference, Zikpitor Michael Agbolosu emphasized the group's commitment to defending individuals who contribute meaningfully to the development of the Volta Region and urged calm while due process takes its course.
According to the alliance, Mr Tanko Atokple has consistently demonstrated dedication to the growth of the region through a wide range of developmental initiatives.
These include significant financial contributions toward promoting tourism, healthcare, education, youth empowerment, and community development across the Volta Region and beyond.
Among his notable contributions, Atokple recently supported GBC Digital Media with over GH₵70,000 to produce a documentary showcasing the tourism potential of the Volta Region.
He has also provided logistics such as motorbikes and air conditioners to health facilities, including the Ketu North Municipal Hospital, to enhance healthcare delivery.
The alliance further highlighted his efforts in improving access to clean water through borehole projects in underserved communities, as well as his support for traditional leadership through contributions to the Volta Regional House of Chiefs. His initiatives also extend to youth development, notably through the establishment of a football academy aimed at nurturing young talents, which has already gained recognition at the regional level.
In addition to infrastructure and youth-focused interventions, Atokple has reportedly supported individuals facing critical health challenges by covering medical expenses.
He has also contributed significantly to political participation and national development, including donations toward party activities and national fundraising efforts ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Mamaga Ablewor IV, Paramount Queen Mother of the Weta Traditional Area, underscored the importance of upholding justice and fairness.
She cautioned against equating allegations with guilt, urging the public to allow the judicial system to determine the truth. She reaffirmed her support for Atokple, assuring him of the traditional leadership’s commitment to defending his integrity.
The alliance expressed concern that persistent public criticism of influential figures like Atokple could discourage other young professionals and entrepreneurs from engaging in public service or regional development. It warned that such trends could undermine progress and weaken the collective drive toward economic and social transformation in the region.
The Volta Impact Alliance called on key stakeholders, including President John Dramani Mahama, the Volta Regional Minister, and traditional authorities, to support efforts aimed at ensuring justice, unity, and continued development.
The group urged the public to reject divisiveness and instead embrace a shared vision of progress, emphasizing that the future of the Volta Region depends on collective support for its emerging leaders.
