The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has issued a formal apology to Mr. Ebenezer Twum Asante after he was mistakenly featured in images linked to a routine security exercise at the Accra International Airport.

In a statement dated April 14, 2026, NACOC explained that the incident occurred during a behavioural detection operation conducted on February 19, 2026, at the airport.

The exercise involved the use of trained sniffer dogs, advanced scanning equipment, and passenger profiling techniques aimed at strengthening surveillance while minimizing disruption to airport activities.

According to the Commission, photographs were taken during various stages of the operation for documentation purposes, some of which were later published on its official social media platforms.

However, it acknowledged that Mr. Twum Asante was inadvertently captured and included in those images.

NACOC clarified that Mr. Twum Asante is not connected to, nor involved in, any ongoing investigation by the Commission.

The statement expressed regret over the error, noting that the publication may have caused inconvenience, distress, or misunderstanding.

The Commission therefore extended its sincere apologies to Mr. Twum Asante.

The apology letter was signed by Mr. Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director of Public Affairs and International Relations at NACOC.
