The Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), through its Spatial Planning Committee, on 9th April 2026, hosted a meeting at the Residency Conference Room where the Tema Development Company (TDC)  presented the proposed Oxygen City affordable housing project in Ho.

The meeting brought together the Managing Director of Tema Development Company, Mr Courage Nunekpeku and his team, members of the Spatial Planning Committee, officials from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), development planning officers, and engineers.

During the session, TDC presented a comprehensive overview of the Oxygen City concept, detailing the planning and design approach for the housing project.

The presentation highlighted key design principles, land-use planning strategies, implementation frameworks, and practical recommendations to guide the development.

In his address, the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, emphasized that spatial planning remains a critical component of the decentralisation process and plays a vital role in ensuring orderly and sustainable development.

He assured Tema Development Company of the region’s readiness to collaborate on the project and expressed optimism that the model could be replicated across district capitals in the Volta Region.

The engagement also provided a platform for stakeholders to review the proposed design framework, discuss key planning considerations, and align on practical steps toward implementation, as the region continues to explore innovative solutions to address its housing needs.
