President John Dramani Mahama has nominated public finance expert Pamela Graham for the position of Auditor-General, pending consultation with the Council of State Ghana.

The nomination, communicated through the Secretary to the President, is in accordance with Article 70(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates the President to seek the Council’s advice before making such appointments.

Sources say the move is part of efforts by the Presidency to strengthen financial oversight and restore confidence in key governance institutions.

Ms Graham is reported to possess extensive experience in public financial management, auditing, and institutional governance, with a reputation for professionalism and integrity.

The Auditor-General plays a critical role in Ghana’s accountability framework, overseeing the auditing of public accounts and ensuring compliance with financial regulations across state institutions.

The Council of State is expected to review the nomination in the coming days and advise the President accordingly.

If approved, Ms Graham will succeed Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has served in the role since September 2021.
