NIA announces temporary nationwide service disruption for system updates
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has notified the public of a temporary disruption to its services at all district offices across the country.
The suspension of services is due to ongoing system updates being conducted by the authority's Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) team.
According to the NIA, these updates are a critical security measure intended to improve the overall efficiency and protection of the Ghana Card registration system.
Key details of the disruption
- Affected Locations: All NIA district offices nationwide.
- Reason for Disruption: Essential system updates by the PKI team.
- Expected Completion Date: May 10, 2026.
The authority has assured the public that full services will be restored once the update process is finalised.
In a statement signed by the Head of the Corporate Affairs Directorate, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, the NIA expressed regret for any inconvenience the downtime may cause to citizens and residents seeking registration or identity services.
Normal operations are expected to resume across all platforms on May 10, 2026.
