Nana Asiedu Keteke I calls for stronger private sector support for community development
The newly enstooled Development Chief (Nkosuohene) of Agona Kwanyako in the Central Region, Nana Asiedu Keteke I, has called on private sector organisations to make community investment and Corporate Social Responsibility central to their operations.
Speaking after his enstoolment ceremony, Nana Asiedu Keteke I, known in private life as the Central Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), said businesses operating within communities must give back to support local development and improve livelihoods.
According to him, companies and organisations that benefit from communities through labour, resources and business opportunities have a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the welfare of the people.
“Every organisation has a Corporate Social Responsibility, but many organisations refuse to do it.
If you are operating in a community and benefiting from it, then you must also give back so the people can benefit from your presence,” he stated.
He noted that investing in communities also helps strengthen relationships between businesses and residents, creating mutual trust and long-term support.
Nana Asiedu Keteke I also announced plans to formalise his philanthropic activities through the Keteke Memorial Foundation, which he said would support development initiatives in Agona Kwanyako and surrounding communities.
“Already, everything I have been doing has been with my own resources, but through this kingship we are officially expanding the foundation to support more people and bring more development to Kwanyako,” he explained.
The colourful enstoolment ceremony attracted chiefs, queen mothers, political figures, residents and other dignitaries, including Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Debrah commended the traditional authorities and people of Agona Kwanyako for choosing a leader with a strong commitment to development and community transformation.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between traditional leaders, government and local communities in driving national progress and improving living conditions for citizens.
The enstoolment of Nana Asiedu Keteke I is expected to strengthen ongoing efforts aimed at promoting socio-economic development, youth empowerment and community welfare within the Agona Kwanyako Traditional Area.
